Over the past month, we have been building up to making these fondant cakes. I had lots of trouble making it, but it turned out well and I had fun.

Fondant Flowers
Over the last month, we made fondant flowers. The fondant was hard to work with, and I didn't like it very much, but at least it tasted okay. My best flower was my callalily, pictured below.
Icing Flowers
Today, we made flowers out of royal icing. I didn't really like the preset designs, but I enjoyed mixing and matching to create my own.

Truffles
Today, we made truffles (or at least tried to). The filling turned out fine, but after two days in the fridge, it came out soft. We couldn't roll it into balls, so it turned into a chocolatey soup. Although it wasn't exactly truffles, it still tasted good!

Apple Birds
Today we made apple birds. Although the birds themselves were easy to make, it was very hard to make them look good. I had a lot of fun, even if my bird didn't turn out great.

Noodles with Chicken and Mushrooms and Snow Peas
To simplify the fairly long title, this lab was a noodle stir-fry. It was fairly easy to make, and looked nice when plated.

Watermelon Baskets
Today, we made watermelon baskets. It surprised me how easy to make they were with the right tools, and how nice they looked. I have to say, though, the watermelon tasted very strange (perhaps due to the small size).
Cucumber Sharks!
Today, we made cucumber sharks! Although it was a short lab, I really liked it, because it allowed for creativity without the requirement of artistic talent. I wouldn't hesitate to garnish dishes with these sharks!

Theme Cakes
Over the past several classes, we made two cakes from the same pan. The first of these cakes was a monkey, made from chocolate cake mix. Kelsey and Paige did the majority of the decoration, and it turned out great! The second cake was the cookie monster. We added some actual cookies for him to hold in his arms, and I thought it made the cake seem a lot more interesting and dimensional. Overall, a great lab!

Field Trip!
Before the Christmas break, our foods class went on a field trip. Our first stop was the Hyatt hotel, where we saw the Gingerbread Lane exhibit. It was cool to see the houses we made among so many others, from the amateur to the incredibly professional.
The second part of the field trip was to find a local food vendor and eat there. My group went to a hotdog stand across from the Hyatt. It was good food, although a bit expensive. Below is my hot dog:
